Fugitives at the Mouth of Pearl River is a historical novel following the aftermath of 1949’s Revolution in Mainland China. It is also a narrative that illustrates --- at the junction of three waterways, Pearl River, South China Sea, and the Pacific Ocean --- the countless number of refugees bearing unshakable traditional roots and values arriving at the then British Colony of Hong Kong. The Author made a down to earth anatomy of an awkward hillbilly family who tried to live in the then up-to-date society of a British Colony. The book sets for the stage of a second wave of emigrants leaving for Golden Mountain. It is a work of art filled with scenes of fury and yet mixed with occasional humour. |
